The Symposium on Protective Shelters for Archaeological Sites funded by the Getty Foundation
The Symposium on Protective Shelters for Archaeological Sites funded by the Getty Foundation held in Herculaneum from 22-28 September 2013. Organized by the Herculaneum Conservation Project and the Herculaneum Centre on behalf of the British School at Rome in collaboration with the MOSAIKON partners (Getty Foundation, Getty Conservation Institute, ICCROM and ICCM). The participants who worked on a series of case studies of archaeological sites around the Mediterranean and on the shelters of the House of the Dionysian Relief in Herculaneum, presented the results of their work and recommendations, on the 27th September 2013, at a public meeting held at the MAV (Museo Archeologico Virtuale) in Ercolano. Christopher J. Smith Director of the British School at Rome and Jeanne Marie Teutonico Associate Director of the Getty Conservation Institute (GCI) moderated the event.
